What we estimate
We provide a fully detailed manual takeoff by system, so you can check each system, adjust it or carry it to another bid.
Lighting fixtures and controls
Fixtures by type from the schedule, emergency and exit lighting, sensors, dimming and lighting control panels.
Distribution and feeders
Service entrance, switchgear, transformers, panelboards and feeders measured by length, conduit size and conductor.
Branch wiring and wiring devices
Receptacles, switches, boxes, branch circuits and home runs, with mounting heights and ceiling types taken into account.
Fire alarm
Initiating and signalling devices, control and annunciator panels and wiring.
Voice, data and audio/visual
Outlets, cabling, pathways, cable tray, racks and AV rough-in.

What the estimate costs
Each estimate gets a fixed fee before we start. That is the price of our work, not of your project, and we never charge a percentage of your bid.
Send the drawings and you have the exact fee within one working hour. Counts only, without labour or pricing, start at $49.
Bid often? A flat monthly fee starts at $1,300 a month; the most popular is $4,000 for six projects.

- The number of drawing sheets and the length of the specification.
- New building or renovation
- New construction is straightforward. Renovations take longer: existing conditions, demolition and phasing.
- Systems in scope
- Power and lighting only, or fire alarm, data, security and controls as well.
- Specification and addenda
- Long specifications and many addenda take longer to read and reconcile.
- Deadline
- A closing two days away costs less than one tomorrow morning.
- Level of detail
- Counts only, or a fully priced estimate with labour.

How fast can you deliver an electrical estimate?
Most tenders are delivered within two days; complex or multi-building projects take longer and are scheduled back from your bid closing. We confirm within one working hour that the estimate will be ready before your closing, and if we cannot meet it we say so then and decline the job.
How much does an electrical estimate cost?
Each estimate gets a fixed fee, quoted within one working hour after we see the drawings. That is the price of our work, not of your project. The fee depends on the number of sheets, whether it is new construction or a renovation, which systems are in scope, the length of the specification and how soon you need it. We do not charge a percentage of your bid. See how pricing works.
What is included in your electrical estimate?
A complete, priced estimate built in Accubid Pro:
- Quantity takeoff of every system in scope, broken down by system
- Quoted material and database material pricing
- Labour hours from the Accubid Pro labour database (NECA labour units), adjusted for site conditions
- Supplier quotes: prices requested from your own suppliers for the major items
- RFIs (requests for information) covering discrepancies, missing information and items that need clarification
- A lead letter and correspondence with the architect or engineer, if required
What if you cannot meet our deadline?
We always deliver before your closing. We confirm it within one working hour of receiving the drawings, before any work starts, and we do not take a job we cannot finish on time. It has been our rule since the company was founded in 2001.
Do you estimate projects outside Ontario?
Yes. We are based in Toronto and most of our work is in Ontario, but we estimate projects across North America, in Canada and the United States. Tell us the project location so we can account for local conditions and requirements. In the rest of Canada we read the drawings against the Canadian Electrical Code as adopted in the province, and in the US against the National Electrical Code.
